Don’t Turn Your Life into a Project

You want things to change. In fact, you know something needs to change.   The quiet sadness, the corroding anger, the persistent discontent, the gnawing guilt, the isolating busyness, the shallow connections, the lingering anxiety….the ache of something missing; the ache for something more.   You want to live a meaningful, joyful life…filled with fun, fulfillment and purpose.   I know you want this (even if those aren’t the exact words you’d use), because this is what your soul wants for you; this is every human’s natural desire.   It’s not wishful thinking. It’s your soul speaking.   But not only do you have your soul speaking to you, you also have the on-going noise in the many forms of advice, recommendations, help, opinions, stories, warnings….many channels of information trying to get your attention and convince you you need to be doing something different; persuading you that there’s something wrong.   We are bombarded with messages that we need to change ourselves, we need to love ourselves, we need...

Day 29 No Striving Challenge – 2nd Way to Connect with Your Soul

Riding on the coat tails of simplicity is SPACIOUSNESS & SERENITY.   We need to provide ourselves with the space and time to connect with our soul.   Spaciousness is about being okay with the pauses in life. We valiantly rush from one place to the next, work on one project and jump into the next, and fill our schedules with obligations and to-dos that it doesn’t leave much space or time for guidance.   But the natural flow of things includes pauses. In these pauses is when we find serenity. We need pauses between:   Minutes of the day – take breaks! Days of the week – stop trying to squeeze as much as you can into each day Months of the year – plan a “no plan” day at least once a month Projects Relationships …and the list goes on.   Spaciousness allows for the spontaneous to occur. Unexpected invites and opportunities arise that you can say yes to when you have allowed for spaciousness in your life.   Also find serenity in spending time with yourself. Being among people is great and fun, but we also...

Day 28 No Striving Challenge – 1st Way to Connect with Your Soul

One thing I hear a lot about is balance. People are wanting balance in their lives. This isn’t the time to get into it, but I will plant a seed that I don’t believe it’s about balance at all…it’s about FLOW.   With that being said, the reason so many people want balance is because your soul is calling to you to slow down, connect, and listen. What you really crave is SIMPLICITY.   You are bombarded with so much stuff that it drowns out the guidance of your soul. So, in order to begin to connect you need to start to simplify.   There are 3 areas where you can slow down and simplify: Your Environment - Our physical environment often becomes a place we use to fill the void within us. Not knowing what is missing we use “things” to fill what is empty. From an energetic view point, the more things and clutter in your homes, the more you are affected by its energy. So, start to simplify what “stuff” you...

Striving is #1 Cause to Struggle, Overwhelm & Frustration

I woke up on New Years day, and feeling a little lazy, I didn’t want to get out of bed right away. So, as I lay there, I grabbed my phone and decided to check my emails. As they were downloading, I saw the many subject lines scrolling down the screen….and I was triggered! I was overwhelmed with a feeling I can only describe as “Ugh.” I don’t know why I was surprised by the influx of emails all peppy and encouraging me to live my best life in 2014…but something was set off in me. No denying it. I had a strong visceral reaction to having my inbox flooded with very well-intentioned emails all willing to help me change, fix, and improve my life. Knowing that when we get triggered it’s never about the other person or people; it’s always about us, I knew there was a message in this for me. So, I decided to just take some time and feel into what it was. I knew that...

Being Yourself is Easier Said Than Done

Great advice, BUT sometimes this piece of wisdom is easier said than done…without some guidance. WHY? Because we have become so wrapped up in our own stories that we often have bought into them hook, line, and sinker.   I know for many years this was true for me. -I believed my story that it was very important to put “obligations” and others needs above my own…because if I didn’t people may not like and accept me. -I believed my story that it was better to follow the safer path…because going the path less travelled was risky, scary, and who knew what could happen?! -I believed my story that I liked being busy…because I didn’t know any other way, and was needing something to fill the void. -I believed my story that by buying brands names and the “in” items somehow made me “belong”…because everyone else was doing it. -I believed my story that I was stuck and a victim of my circumstances…because I never understood the bigger picture.   Once I challenged my stories and my beliefs,...
