Day 29 No Striving Challenge – 2nd Way to Connect with Your Soul

Riding on the coat tails of simplicity is SPACIOUSNESS & SERENITY.   We need to provide ourselves with the space and time to connect with our soul.   Spaciousness is about being okay with the pauses in life. We valiantly rush from one place to the next, work on one project and jump into the next, and fill our schedules with obligations and to-dos that it doesn’t leave much space or time for guidance.   But the natural flow of things includes pauses. In these pauses is when we find serenity. We need pauses between:   Minutes of the day – take breaks! Days of the week – stop trying to squeeze as much as you can into each day Months of the year – plan a “no plan” day at least once a month Projects Relationships …and the list goes on.   Spaciousness allows for the spontaneous to occur. Unexpected invites and opportunities arise that you can say yes to when you have allowed for spaciousness in your life.   Also find serenity in spending time with yourself. Being among people is great and fun, but we also...

Day 28 No Striving Challenge – 1st Way to Connect with Your Soul

One thing I hear a lot about is balance. People are wanting balance in their lives. This isn’t the time to get into it, but I will plant a seed that I don’t believe it’s about balance at all…it’s about FLOW.   With that being said, the reason so many people want balance is because your soul is calling to you to slow down, connect, and listen. What you really crave is SIMPLICITY.   You are bombarded with so much stuff that it drowns out the guidance of your soul. So, in order to begin to connect you need to start to simplify.   There are 3 areas where you can slow down and simplify: Your Environment - Our physical environment often becomes a place we use to fill the void within us. Not knowing what is missing we use “things” to fill what is empty. From an energetic view point, the more things and clutter in your homes, the more you are affected by its energy. So, start to simplify what “stuff” you...

Day 27 No Striving Challenge – Create a Soul Anchor

So, you now know (or remember) that you have support, and you realize you need to surrender. Now what?   You need a SOUL ANCHOR – this is something that keeps you anchored in the remembering of the power of who you truly are. I’ve already mentioned my Truth Affirmations which have been pivotal in building my trust.   Another anchor is creating a daily practice. Now don’t get overwhelmed with thinking that means you need to fit yet another thing into your day. Your daily practice can be very simple. Taking only 5 minutes a day to commune with your soul has far reaching impact…and I highly recommend that you find 5 minutes to yourself to do this.   Find a spot that is quiet where you won’t be interrupted, make a conscious connection with your Source (all that takes is your intention to connect), and deep breathe. That’s it.   Sound too simple? I have to say, I thought it was too simple, and that it didn’t really “make anything happen, ” but what I...

Day 16 No Striving Challenge – Excuses that Keep You Striving

Excuses come in many forms, but the 2 main culprits that keep us striving are…   1. Money 2. Time   I’ll admit, I’ve used these excuses many times…and they are also the two reasons I hear most from people when it comes to justifying why they can’t slow down – not enough time, not enough money.   But here’s the thing, they really are excuses.   When we allow money and time to call the shots, we will forever be dictated and driven by these external motivators. In these cases we are approaching life from the outside in. And what really allows us to live in ease, calm and peace is when we live life from the inside out.   Money and time become extrinsic symbols we use to prove to others our value. But, let’s not kid ourselves, they only go so far in pulling the wool over our own eyes. If we don’t become aware that these are simply symbols for something deeper that we crave, we will be caught in a cycle of...

Who has time for that?!

Do you ever feel like time is the enemy?  That you are constantly negotiating your time, and you don’t get included on the docket of things that must be done…other than you get to be the driver?   This past weekend I went back to my parents farm in Saskatchewan for Thanksgiving (which was great by the way!).  At one of our meals I was sharing how I took my daughter, Mackenzie (9), for a “Mom & Me” Spa Day for her birthday.  As I was saying how I love the spas where you can hang out for the day wearing a robe, drinking tea, journaling, reading, and going in the hot tub between treatments, my sister responded with “Who has time for that?!”   …And it was a reminder to me of just how many other moms feel the same way.  She was speaking for more than just herself.   The thoughts of… That would be nice, but… I wish I could, but… I could use that, but…   OR not even entertaining the...
